I've been working really hard over the summer, on the French West coast, in a kind of resort called Royan. But it was good i lived with my friends Manu, Anka and their two cute childs, Emile and Olivia. I have been able to save enough money to go overseas with my friends from Bristol.
Francois, Mathew, Georges and I took off the 3d of September for a half tour/holidays on the West Coast . It started with a Francois gig at th Vancouver central Library, supporting the amazind "Diskettes". Then we stayed a few days in Vancouver, such a nice city by the way, before we hit the road to the U.S.
Crossing the border has been a bit of a stress because of the instruments but everything went pretty well at the end. Once we arrived in Bellingham, we hired a car and made our ways to Olympia. Roads in Oregon are really amazing, with these massives forests all around you. After a gig as Arctic Circle, we had a really good and drunk party at justin's house, and it was hard to drive the next day with this huge hang over.We finally arrived Portland and stayed 3 days, playing two different good shows.
We bought some cd's in Portland to listen in the car and it ended up that our adventures had a Pastels soundtrack, cos all I can remember of listening music in the car, is "Illumination" playing really loud. Oh no! actually I remember listening Stereolab stupidly LOUD while I was driving on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, this is a strong souvenir for me.....
Anyway, driving in USA has been really pleasant for me, a bit too much sometimes but so nice... We got down to San Francisco, and then went up by the road 101, which follow the coast in North California and Oregon, to Seattle where we played a non-planned gigs, in 180, a kind of huge wharehouse, that was great. We next took the car back at the Dairy Queen parking, and took a Ferry to Victoria. It was good to be back in Canada, it's really different to the US, and Victoria was really relaxing, the people we were staying with were really kind with us ( Devon, Mike, and Pete ). We played a show there with Semi-Louise and stayed two or three days, we also had another really good swimming session in a gorgeous lake.
Then we got back to Vancouver and I only stayed a couple of days, crashing at steve's house. I took a bus to Seattle, stayed a night there with the crazy Vells kids and took my plane just on time to Santiago with a really bad headache....
